Tools Needed

CD Case Poems

NO TECH Idea: Cut paper or card stock the size for a CD case and have the students write their poem or draw their pictures on the cut sheets of paper. Display in the CD case (take off the top half and place upside down on the bottom half)
Paper/Card Stock cut in 5 x 5 inch square, markers, etc.

LOW TECH Idea: Use this Microsoft Word Template: 7-Jewel Case Poem Template.dot or the on-line tool at Read, Write and Think (link to the right) and allow the students to type their poems and print them on the printer. When they are done printing them, they can use the lines to cut the finished poem out and put in the CD Case. (take off the top half and place upside down on the bottom half)

NO TECH Idea: Use a paper punch to add two holes a couple of inches from the top and bottom of paper that is laid out landscape style. Use a rubberband and a pencil to bind the book. (you can also use the plastic combs if your school has access to these)

LOW TECH Idea: Create a template in PowerPoint with each slide being a page. Put a story stem on each page and have the students add a few words OR print the story in PowerPoint and have the students write their words with markers and draw pictures. Bind the books along the left side using staples, plastic combs or yarn.
